Graduate Internships

Graduate students studying at the University of South ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥ Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences are guided by a world-renown faculty with expertise ranging from fisheries sciences to marine ecology and ocean physics. Outside of classroom experiences, students have access to a variety of internship opportunities where they can gain hands-on experience prior to graduation.

Dog River Clearwater Revival (DRCR) Seeks Intern for JAN-APRIL 2023 assisting with 8th Annual MudBottom Revival Music Festival Fundraiser

DRCR is seeking 2 unpaid interns to assist with organizing our 8th annual MudBottom Revival Music Festival. This is our biggest fundraiser event of the year. All proceeds raised have a direct impact on water quality and fund our ongoing Dog River improvement projects.

Specifically, we need someone to help with Fundraising (sponsor solicitation) and Art/Merch (event signage, t-shirts, and merchandise). You would be working under and assisting our seasoned Committee members. Your time commitment would be minimal, likely around 5 hours per week at the most, 40 hours max total between the months of January-April.

You would also be invited to attend the event free of charge of course! It is always a fun event!

Directorate Resource Assistant Fellows Program (DFP)

DFP is a special hiring program the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) uses to diversify their workforce. FWS measures DFP’s success by how well they attract students to a summer Fellowship and convert them to full-time, permanent positions. Their goal is to hire all Fellows into permanent employment.

Internship at the Osprey Initiative

Osprey Initiative () has one or more positions available in the spring to perform hands-on ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥ field work. William L. Fisher Congressional Geoscience Fellowship

For Finishing PhD Students

This fellowship represents a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the legislative process on Capitol Hill. The successful candidate will spend 12 months (starting September 1, 2023) in Washington, D.C., working as a staff member in the office of a member of Congress or congressional committee. 

NMFS-Sea Grant Joint Fellowship Program

The NMFS-Sea Grant Joint Fellowship Program in Population and Ecosystem Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics is designed to help Sea Grant fulfill its broad ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥al responsibilities and to strengthen the collaboration between Sea Grant and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Homeland Security Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research 2023

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs sponsors the Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research (HS-POWER) Program for undergraduate and graduate students. HS-POWER is open to students majoring in a broad spectrum of homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines as well as DHS mission-relevant research areas.

White Shark Internship

The program is open to anyone with a real interest in sharks and a healthy passion for marine life. No previous diving, research or conservation experience is necessary and training in those fields will be provided.  We will teach you how to explore, understand and protect our beautiful oceans.

Long-term internships are designed to empower and immerse early-career conservationists in one of the most important neotropical landscapes on Earth while developing crucial career skills. Come live in a tropical rainforest and learn, explore and achieve alongside an outstanding community of conservationists, biologists, media-specialists, educators, community outreach leaders, and more to fill knowledge gaps and push the frontier of tropical conservation. This team will provide one-on-one mentorship, advise on research methods, and equip interns with tangible career skills to solve real-world conservation issues.
