Front of Meisler Hall

Students should check their registration for accuracy, make any necessary changes within the appropriate deadlines, and contact the Office of the Registrar for registration assistance if needed.

Steps to Register for Classes

â–¼   Cancellation Policy

If you register for courses then decide not to attend USA, you must cancel your registration by dropping all your courses before your time ticket expires at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of Late Registration and Drop/Add. Otherwise, you may be held responsible for tuition, fees, and  grades received in your registered courses. Non-attendance of a registered course does not constitute a formal withdrawal from that course, nor does it entitle you to a refund.

New students who cancel their registration must contact the Office of Admissions and update their application for admission to participate in registration for a future semester.

Readmitted students who cancel their registration must contact the Office of Admissions and submit a new readmission application to participate in registration for a future semester.

If you have questions about the cancellation policy, contact the Office of the Registrar.

Refer to the Academic Calendar for exact dates each semester.

â–¼   Adding Courses
  • You can add courses to your schedule until your time ticket expires at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of Late Registration and Drop/Add.
  • If you have a hold on your student account that prevents registration, you must clear the hold through the University office that issued the hold before adding courses.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure that your schedule is accurate before the end of Late Registration and Drop/Add. If you have difficulty adding a course, contact the Office of the Registrar for assistance before the end of Late Registration and Drop/Add.
  • Courses added to your registration after the end of Late Registration and Drop/Add may not be eligible for financial aid funding. Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions about your financial aid.
  • If the course add constitutes a late registration, you will be assessed appropriate late fees.

Refer to the Academic Calendar for exact dates each semester.

â–¼   Dropping Courses
  • During Open Registration, Late Registration, and Drop/Add, you may drop select courses or drop all of your courses (cancel your registration). Courses dropped during these registration periods will not remain on your permanent academic record. Late Registration and Drop/Add ends at 11:59 p.m. on the fifth day of the semester. Courses dropped after this time will remain on your academic records as withdrawn courses.
  • During the Drop Period, you may drop select courses from your schedule or drop all courses to completely withdraw from the semester. Courses dropped during the Drop Period will remain on your permanent academic record as withdrawn courses. The last day to drop ends at 11:59 p.m.
  • After the Drop Period ends, courses cannot be dropped. You can contact the dean/associate dean over the course if you have any questions.
  • If you have a hold on your student account that prevents you from dropping a course, you must contact the Office of the Registrar during office hours or submit the schedule change form to request the drop. The Registrar is unable to process requests to drop courses after the deadline to drop has expired.

Refer to the Academic Calendar for exact dates each semester.

â–¼   Complete Withdrawals

At the University of South ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥,  a "Complete Withdrawal" means to drop all of your courses for the semester with the dropped courses remaining on your academic record as withdrawn courses. Unless you are a transient student or a candidate for graduation, you will be assigned a time ticket to register for the next semester.

  • During Open Registration,  Late Registration, and Drop/Add, you may drop all of your courses to cancel your registration. This constitutes a cancellation for the semester. The dropped courses will not remain on your academic record (see Cancellation Policy).
  • During the Drop Period, you may drop all of your courses to completely withdraw for the semester. The dropped courses will remain on your academic record as withdrawn courses. You must complete all course drops before your time ticket expires on the last day to drop.

Refer to the Academic Calendar for exact dates each semester.
