The Laidlaw Performing Arts CenterThe home of the USA Department of Music is the 52,136 square foot John W. Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. The music wing houses a 240-seat recital hall with superb acoustics, a beautiful and welcoming lobby located at the main entrance to the building, a magnificent Green Room, twelve sumptuous faculty studios, a state-of-the-art MIDI Lab, a fully digital recording/production lab, three music classrooms, a large rehearsal hall, twelve Wenger practice rooms, and a sound-isolated percussion studio.

The North Entry of the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center (the main entry lobby) features dramatic marble flooring and elegant Honduran mahogany woodwork installed by the USA Cabinetry Shop, as well as access to both the Recital Hall and the Dramatic Arts Mainstage Theatre.

GENERAL STATEMENT REGARDING USE OF THE LAIDLAW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER BY UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC USERS --

USA's Department of Music is happy to share its portion of the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center with the rest of the community as it is available in relation to an already busy department schedule of concerts, rehearsals and classes.

Persons and organizations interested in use of the Department of Theatre & Dance' portion of the LPAC must contact them directly -- southalabama.edu/theatre or (251) 460-6305.

PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS -- All public organizations interested in hosting music events or other types of events are welcome to apply to use the LPAC for the benefit of the community as a whole. Please remember that the LPAC is primarily an arts facility used for arts ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥ and performance events. Users of the facility are asked to treat it as such, being kind enough guests to leave all rooms and equipment in good condition at their event's conclusion. All events are subject to applicable fees and insurance requirements (see below for Policy & Rules, Billing Procedures, and USA's Camps, Conferences, and Special Events Policy). Please note that we are unable to host any sort of dance events, including dance contests, dance recitals and other events that may feature dancing.

LPAC Recital HallUNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA FACULTY, STAFF AND ORGANIZATIONS -- All faculty and staff are welcome to apply to use the LPAC for university-sponsored events that benefit the university community as a whole. Please remember that the LPAC is primarily an arts facility used for arts ³ÉÈË¿ì²¥ and performance events. Users of the facility are asked to treat it as such, being kind enough guests to leave all rooms and equipment in good condition at their event's conclusion. USA events may be subject to applicable fees and insurance requirements (see below for Policy & Rules, Billing Procedures, and USA's Camps, Conferences, and Special Events Policy). Some USA events may be declared as non-USA events, thereby subjecting them to applicable public-user scrutiny. Please note that we are unable to host any sort of dance events, including dance contests, dance recitals and other events that may feature dancing.
